Pronouns; huruf is a in person installation of Javascript code projections. The project focuses on morphing Arabic typography using machine interfaces. 11 basic feminine and masculine Arabic pronouns were manipulated to follow the concept of “Hurrifyia” The Arabic language is gender segregative in its nature. Every word is either feminine or masculine. The sun is a girl, the moon is a boy. The “morphing-pronouns” is my way of deconstructing the rigid gender norms of Middle Eastern culture. The morphed frames release a new expression of gender and linguistic possibilities which speak beyond the currency of the Arabic language. They express my existence in my culture.

The installation was exhibited at the Image Factory for X University (formerly known as Ryerson University) from March 14th to March 22nd, 2022.
